As a central hub in Neligh, the Center hosts events, supports local organizations, and offers services such as Meals on Wheels.

Position Summary

The Community Center Manager plays a vital leadership role in overseeing the operations, programming, and outreach of the Neligh Community Center. This individual will manage the facility, supervise staff and volunteers, coordinate events and fundraising efforts, support Meals on Wheels, embrace all opportunities provided by the Northeast Nebraska Area on Aging, accurately report monthly activities as required to maximize benefits and work closely with the Board of Directors and community partners to advance the Center’s mission.

Key Responsibilities

Operations & Facility Management

  • Oversee daily operations of the Neligh Community Center to ensure it is clean, safe, and welcoming.
  • Manage facility rentals, scheduling, and contracts for events and programs
  • Coordinate maintenance and custodial services, monitor inventory, and order supplies as needed
  • Provide on-site event support, including setup/takedown, when necessary

Administrative & Board Support

  • Work closely with the Board of Directors to support strategic planning and organizational development.
  • Prepare and present monthly financial reports to the Board, including income, expenses, and rental activity.
  • Maintain accurate financial records using QuickBooks
  • Draft meeting agendas, record minutes, and compile reports for Board meetings
  • Assist with grant applications and reporting as needed

Staff Supervision & Volunteer Coordination

  • Supervise part-time staff and volunteers, including scheduling and training.
  • Foster a positive, team-oriented environment and ensure effective communication.

Marketing & Community Outreach

  • Develop and implement marketing strategies to promote the Community Center and its programs.
  • Manage communications, including website updates, social media, flyers, and press releases.
  • Build and maintain relationships with local organizations, agencies, and community members.
  • Represent the Community Center at public events and in community coalitions.

Events, Fundraising & Programs

  • Plan, coordinate, and promote community events, activities, and programs
  • Lead fundraising initiatives, donor outreach, and community engagement efforts
  • Support and grow participation in signature programs, including the Meals on Wheels program
  • Ensure smooth operation of the Meals on Wheels program, including scheduling, volunteer coordination, and meal logisticsQualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; associate or bachelor’s degree in nonprofit management, communications, or related field preferred
  • Demonstrated experience in nonprofit or community-based leadership, event planning, or facility management
  • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, and QuickBooks
  • Experience with social media, marketing, or public relations is a plus
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and adapt in a fast-paced environment
  • Must be available to work flexible hours, including some evenings and weekends
  • A valid driver’s license and the ability to pass a background check are required

Work Environment

This position involves both office-based and hands-on responsibilities, including lifting, event setup, and occasional outdoor activities. Based on programming and events, minimal evening and weekend work is required. We value a family-friendly work environment that supports flexibility, balance, and community care.

Compensation

This is a part-time position. Wage is commensurate with experience. The Neligh Community Center offers a mission-driven, community-focused, and family-oriented work environment with opportunities to make a meaningful local impact.
